I have been anxious to continue my make up series based on my favorite video games and what better way to kick things off then with the visually lush, Alice: Madness Returns? I was first introduced to the original PC game by my older brother and was intrigued when I heard that the game would portray a much darker Wonderland. I instantly fell in love with the twisted tale, decadent aesthetics and the ghostly atmospheric soundtrack composed by Chris Vrenna, the former drummer for Nine Inch Nails.
Instead of sticking to one of Alice’s signature looks, I decided to also incorporate the slightly degraded look shown in the asylum cut scene. This portion of the game shows the deterioration of Alice’s mind and her struggle to separate herself from her mental trauma, so I thought it would be pertinent to showcase her duality through the two looks. This tutorial also gives you another option if you want to wear this look for Halloween or for cosplay purposes. If you prefer, you could continue to layer the black tears with more water, black shadow as well as fake blood to mimic Alice in hysteria mode.
