I was asked by many of you to revamp my Brigitte Bardot make up tutorial and record it in HD, so here it is! It was one of the first looks that I uploaded to Youtube and despite the poor quality, it remained one of my most popular videos. I hope this rendition proves to be more helpful and is easier to follow for any of you that are interested in learning about vintage make up trends.
During my search for Bardot picture inspiration, I noticed that there were a few different looks that Brigitte wore throughout the years, so I decided to recreate one of her more bold and iconic make up looks. A lot of the pictures I found showed her sporting a thick cat eye liner with lashes, peach blush and her classic nude lips but I thought this look would be even more glamorous. Especially since you all know I have a penchant for darker, night time looks.
I think this look transcends time and holds up among even today’s modern trends without looking too dated. If you want to modernize it even more, add a bit of a glow to the skin or a subtle shimmer to the eyes or lips. A lot of make up trends from the past included a very matte finish, so this is an easy way to switch things up, if you’re so inclined. Think of Pamela Anderson or Carmen Electra for modern sex symbols who also sport a similar look.

You make it look so easy! I’ve always wondered how to get this type of eye shadow. I look forward to trying it. Thanks!

Thank you! I’m glad I could help

I really love this! Quick question though…in the beginning you say you’re applying a cream based black eyeshadow. Is that the Urban Decay blackout eyeshadow or the Bobbi Brown slate? I thought those were powder based. Or is it something else? Just want to get this right!

Thanks so much! No, it’s actually a gel liner. You can use those for a cream base to make the eye shadow darker. I’m using the L’Oreal infallible gel liner in black. I hope this helps

Lovely tutorial but when you line the lips, do you simply do the outline or fill them in completely?

Thank you! I always fill them in completely

Thank you, Dimitra! I am so glad you enjoy my work. Salmon and corals are always my go-to shades when I’m not wearing red lipstick. They’re so complimentary. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well! x

I really love your tutorials they’re amazing!! but I’m really wondering what brushes you used and/if there are any particulars that you would recommend. thanks

Thanks so much, Paulina! I mostly used Makeup Designory brushes. I’m positive that it was their pencil brush, blending brush and angled brush that made an appearance in the video - as well as Sigma and MAC flat shader brushes
The Makeup Designory brushes are incredibly good quality and always a kit favorite. Their smaller detail brushes are definitely hard to beat. I use them for my eyebrows and eyeliner every day. I also really love MAC brushes as well, some of the Sigma pro and Sedona Lace brushes are great too.
