L'Oreal Paris Lash Boosting Serum

I was recently contacted by L’Oreal Paris to review their new Lash Boosting Serum. The serum claims to offer a revolutionary “intensive boost for lashes that look longer, feel stronger and renewed.” I was reluctant to try this at first because any beauty product that claims to have found a revolutionary formula is usually just a clever marketing ploy used to gauge potential consumers. As an artist and self proclaimed makeup collector, I think I owe it to my viewers to keep an open mind and give it an honest try, despite my initial skepticism. However, on a positive note I will say I was very impressed with the amount of professionalism that went into preparing my package. If I’m going to try something as foreign as a lash renewal serum, I want to know exactly what ingredients are involved. Hence, why I was pleased to see an informative booklet and USB stick included, which contained in depth information about the serum and it’s intended affects.

The instructions suggest using the serum twice a day, once before your makeup application and once before bed. After using the product for a month I did notice a difference in the appearance of my lashes. In the past, my lashes have been known to fall out or suffer from breakage while removing my makeup and since I have been using the serum, they’ve become much more resilient. The serum is said to contain arginine, one of the main amino acids prevalent in keratin. Keratin is deemed a key component in hair and lashes which often aid in the restoration process. I definitely think this is true, as my lashes have not fallen out half as much as they used to since implementing the serum into my everyday makeup regime.

Now I would like to point out that the serum does not instantly promote the growth of your lashes, but gives them the nourishment that will condition and strengthen them back to their former health. The only downfall is that the serum tends to clumps my lashes together before I apply mascara, making it difficult to create a more natural, separated look. I much prefer to use it before bed when all my makeup has already been removed. However, my verdict is in favor for this product because I have experienced the benefits of fuller and more even lashes first hand. A 5.5 ml bottle retails for $14.99 CAD and with the small amount needed for everyday use, it’s definitely worth the investment.
