L’Eclisse is an American cosmetic and skincare line that prides itself on providing organic and cruelty-free products to the conscientious buyer. Their products are formulated to address the concerns of sensitive skin and to protect it from the harsh elements of the environment. With a focus on hydration and stimulating collagen growth, L’Eclisse is an ideal choice for those looking to add a bit of luxury and nourishment into their beauty regime!
Shipping: Currently, L’eclisse only offers shipping within the U.S.
Scent: The all natural lip gloss possesses a soft, vanilla scent which is very much akin to the MAC lip glasses. However, I do like the fact that the two powders I received are scent-free as I’m sure this only aids in offering the most sensitive, non-comedogenic formula possible. The Cucumber Peptide Intensive Eye Cream has the most beautifully sweet, and crisp cucumber aroma. It’s very invigorating to apply, especially in the morning! The Hyaluronic Advanced Renewal Moisturizer has a slight medicinal scent that is slightly undesirable to my sensitive nose, but it’s still subtle enough that it doesn’t deter me from using the product all together.
Cruelty Free: All L’Eclisse products are cruelty-free.
Packaging: When I first opened my parcel I was elated to see an ultra-feminine two-tone packaging placed inside. Both the skincare and cosmetics are housed in a decadent, champagne box encased by a pink sleeve with the L’Eclisse emblem scrawled in a romantic cursive font across the left hand side. This only heightened my excitement to unveil what the actual products looked like seeing as the outer packaging was so well designed!
I was not certainly not disappointed after unwrapping all of my items, as L’Eclisse obviously takes a lot of pride in the presentation of their products. The foundation and mineral setting powder both sport a light reflective silver exterior, topped with a beautiful, ornate border that encircles a raised L’Eclisse emblem. They both come equipped with a fair sized mirror and contain both the product name and list of ingredients on the underside of the compact. The natural lip gloss comes packaged in a relatively standard transparent, cylinder shaped tube with a black twist top lid and doe foot applicator.
As for the skincare, I was really impressed with the appearance and design of each individual item. The Rose Hip Cleansing Foam is encased in a tall, acrylic tube and white pump screw top lid which dispenses the product with a lot more control and keeps it hygienic. The Hyaluronic Advanced Renewal cream and Cucumber Peptide Intensive Eye Cream both come packaged in circular acrylic pots with twist top lids. Needless to say, the silver, white and transparent containers make for a very sleek addition to any vanity or bathroom counter top.
Pressed Mineral Foundation in ‘Natural Ivory’ ($57 for 12 g | .423 OZ)
I immediately experimented with this product the moment I took it out of the box considering it’s usually so difficult to find a foundation that is light enough to suit my pale complexion. I prefer wearing high coverage foundation and powders to create the ultimate matte finish, but I found that this powder is the perfect companion to my Make Up Forever HD Foundation. It’s not only silky smooth to apply, but it’s so finely milled so it’s quite effortless to layer the product and customize the coverage without it looking too chalky. I also really love that it contains absolutely no fragrance which makes it ideal for anyone that suffers from sensitive skin like myself.
Pressed Mineral Rice Setting Powder in ‘Transparent Light’ ($42 for 12 g | .423 OZ)
Since the Pressed Mineral Setting Powder is so lightweight and blends effortlessly into the skin, it makes for an ideal product to carry in your makeup bag for touch ups. Even though I have very dry skin, sometimes a few oily areas will surface especially in warmer weather. I just pat this over those problem areas to tone down the shine and voila - a perfectly matte finish in seconds! One of the wonderful things about this product is that it’s suitable for all skin types, so I don’t have to worry about it accentuating my extremely dry skin. It is rare to find a powder that is so smooth and creamy that doesn’t highlight dryness or in turn cause excess oiliness.
Natural Lip Gloss in ‘Coral Glow’ ($19 for 5 ml | 0.18 OZ)
This is a wonderful example of a pigmented, all natural gloss. A lot of the ther L’Eclisse lip gloss colors are fairly subdued, but ‘Coral Glow’ packs a vibrant punch. I love switching between red and orange lip colors for the summer time and this is a perfect casual substitute if I don’t want to bother with sporting a high maintenance matte lip. It’s incredibly hydrating and conditions the lips which is a plus since mine have a tendency to chap fairly easily. The all natural lip glosses also provide beautiful high shine and are made using only certified organic ingredients. It’s not only a nourishing and pigmented gloss, but it’s completely non-toxic too!
Rose Hip Cleansing Foam ($27 for 120 ml | 4 FL OZ)
I cannot express how this has quickly become one of my favorite cleansers on the market. It has the most nourishing formula that contains a soothing blend of Vitamin A, rose hip seed oil, olive oil castile, seaweed and oil of kumquat that not only neutralizes the effects of aging, but is also wonderful for cleansing the skin of makeup and other impurities. I usually wear quite a bit of makeup, so I find I have to wash my face twice with this or use it after another heavy duty oil based cleanser, but it always leaves my skin feeling so fresh and radiant afterwards. The sweet rose scent is enough to make me look forward to my morning cleansing routine!
Hyaluronic Advanced Renewal Cream ($65 for 50 ml | 1.691 FL OZ)
I was really impressed with this moisturizer even after my first experience with it. It instantly sinks into the skin, leaving a non-greasy finish and allows for a flawless makeup application over top. With it’s super charged combination of hyaluronic acid and squalane, this moisturizer helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and improves the elasticity of your skin by promoting new cell growth. It also smooths out the texture by balancing the skins natural moisture and protects against environmental free radicals. I wish it were a touch more moisturizing seeing as I have extremely dehydrated skin because I feel as if I have to apply this more than once. My skin literally drinks it up on contact! It would definitely be better suited for those of you with normal to dry skin.
L-R: Hyaluronic Advanced Renewal Cream, Cucumber Peptide Intensive Eye Cream
Cucumber Peptide Intensive Eye Cream ($125 for 30 ml | 1.014 FL OZ)
I have had the opportunity to try numerous high end eye creams in my time as a makeup artist and the Cucumber Peptide Intensive Eye Cream is undoubtedly a top contender on my beauty must have list. It possesses the most incredibly lush and revitalizing blend of vitamins A and E, age-defying peptides and cucumber extract that helps restore hydration, protects against environmental aggressors and encourages collagen growth to aid in the skins restorative process. I have found that with continued use, it provides a smooth and plump effect to the delicate under eye area which makes it optimal for prepping my face before makeup or to slather on during times when I feel like my skin needs a bit of extra moisture. I’m also really enjoying the sweet, crisp cucumber scent as it makes for a very pleasant application, especially when used in conjunction with the Rose Hip Foam Cleanser!
What I Like
Ingredients - L’Eclisse utilizes certified organic ingredients whenever possible and are adamant that all of their products are created without synthetic perfumes, oils, fillers, talc or dyes. Their oil-free and non-comedogenic formulas help to prevent pore blockages, dehydration and aid in soothing even the most sensitive skin. Infused with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, L’Eclisse products are also suitable for calming both acne and rosacea and are safe to use even after the most harsh skin treatments. I wish that more companies would follow suit, as it is increasingly difficult to find high quality makeup that also contains all-natural ingredients.
Scent - If there is one thing that I can say is an added bonus to certain L’Eclisse products is the natural and subtle fragrances used. The Rose Hip Foam Cleanser, Natural Lip Gloss and Cucumber Peptide Intensive Eye Cream all contain very subdued, sweet and organic scents that seem to enhance the allure of their products. It’s difficult to find pleasant smelling cosmetics that don’t affect the skin and cause breakouts, so I consider this a huge plus in my books. It certainly adds a bit of a ritualistic feeling to my routine and I find it to be both very relaxing and rejuvenating every time I apply them.
Packaging - The L’Eclisse packaging is not only light and airy but it is also very spa like. It has a timelessness and simplistic glamour that is very appealing to the eye. It is clear that a lot of thought has gone into the design and presentation of the products and it makes for a very feminine and clean looking line.
Formula - It is nice to see a brand that possess formulas that are incredibly soothing, promote hydration are long lasting and are fashioned with high grade, natural ingredients. Since my skin is so easily irritated, it is a relief to be able to use a line that doesn’t cause my skin to erupt with blemishes and sensitive dry patches. I would highly recommend this line for anyone that suffers from sensitive or problematic skin and that is interested in cruelty-free products, organic cosmetics.
What I don’t Like
Price - I do find that some of the L’Eclisse products available are quite expensive and perhaps unattainable for anyone on a strict budget. I do believe that price doesn’t always dictate quality, but in this case I can understand why some items sport such a high retail price.
Limited Color Selection - While L’Eclisse does offer nine different colors in their Pressed Mineral Foundation range the darkest shade in ‘Deep Bronze’ would not be suitable for those of you with very deep skin tones. I think this it would be wonderful to see an extended collection ranging from porcelain through to the very deepest shades to make the brand more accessible to a wider range of ethnic backgrounds.
Shipping - It’s unfortunate that L’Eclisse only ships to the U.S. for the time being, as this drastically limits the reach of their potential customers. Hopefully international shipping will be considered in the near future!
Where To buy: Online at the official L’eclisse web shop.
